Chief Operations Officer (COO) Lifepoint Health

Responsibilities
- Provide administrative direction for assigned departments and appraise performance of department heads, including authority to hire and fire, subject to CEO veto.
- Communicate routinely with the CEO on policy recommendations and suggested courses of action for efficient operation of assigned departments.
- Implement new policies; disseminate pertinent information following administrative directives; recommend improvement of hospital facilities, including construction or renovation and purchase of new equipment.
- Promote involvement of department heads in budget preparation and educate them on budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
- Advise CEO on budget, cost, and financial matters; assist department heads in establishing performance measures, increased productivity, quality improvement, cost controls, and maximum utilization of facilities.
- Plan activities of individual departments relative to other hospital departments to understand interdepartmental problems.
- Attend medical staff meetings and inform CEO, recommending action as necessary.
- Represent hospital membership in related professional associations.
Education
Masters Degree Required (MHA, MBA, or other relevant master's degree).
Experience
2 years as a Chief Operating Officer at an equivalent or larger facility, or internal employee with 2 years of experience as an Officer or Assistant Administrator.
